For all peoples of faith, a sustained commitment to building Beloved Community necessitates deep rootedness in the words of sacred scripture. Using a model of co-discernment, we’ll examine the words of the Bible through multiple lenses, with special attention on how the passages intersect with our justice work.

Luke 23:50-56: Leadership as if Faith Mattered: Joseph of Arimathea
Joseph of Arimathea was a faithful follower of Jesus. He’s described in all four gospels, yet we seldom hear much about him. Joseph’s act of discipleship provides a good starting place for believers seeking to be “radically rooted” in stewardship by using their wealth, resources, and influence to meet needs.
