Steve is an active angel impact investor and Founder/Managing Director of Solidarity Capital Group, an impact investment firm and fund that finances economically sustainable social justice enterprises, and is itself a Certified B Corp. He is also an Investors’ Circle member and co-founder and head of the IC NC local network; and a board member or advisor for various early stage companies and community initiatives. His prior background includes a 20 year IBM management career including key roles launching, leading, or accelerating four internal startup ventures. He has global experience in two dozen countries, and is an alumnus of the Venture Capital Institute and of Stanford University and Duke University. Steve is married with two daughters and one son, and lives and works in the Research Triangle region of NC.

Since 2010, Steve has been creatively deploying new approaches to advance social and economic justice in our community. He has especially focused on building local impact investing as a powerful community-serving economic development tool, attracting dozens of like-minded investors to back more than 1.5 dozen diverse community-serving enterprises. In a larger context, he also frequently promotes impact investing as a platform to connect and strengthen isolated social justice efforts, intentionally bridging groups in the private sector, social sector, faith community, and the arts. He collegially supports the Triangle’s fast growing community of more than three dozen B Corps; is the lead corporate partner for the Justice Theater Project; an advisor to the Raleigh CDC Passage Home; recent Duke Catholic Center board chair; and a Leadership Triangle Goodmon Fellow and Goodmon Award winner.
